Russian minister says will do all he can to prevent deployment of US missiles in Baltics

MOSCOW, Feb 07, Interfax-BNS - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said he will do everything he can to prevent US intermediate- and shorter-range missiles from being deployed in the Baltic states.

Ryabkov was asked at a press conference on Thursday what Russia would do if the United States were to deploy missiles in the Baltic countries, in particular Estonia, Interfax reported.

"I will do my best to prevent everything you mentioned from happening," he said.

"I am sure that every one of us who is involved in foreign policy, defense, and security one way or another will be working as a single team to prevent a situation that would signal the end of everything that has constituted the notion of European security for decades," he said.
