    In May, June thousands of foreign troops to participate in five military drills in Latvia

    RIGA, March 11 (LETA) – In May and June five international military exercises will be held in Latvia with participation of thousands of foreign troops.

    On May 3-17, a joint military exercise of the Latvian National Armed Forces (NAF) and foreign troops, Sill/Hedgehog, will be organized in Latvia. This will be exercise organized by Estonia with participation of troops from Estonia, the Canadian-lead NATO battle group deployed in Latvia and UK-lead NATO battle groups deployed in Estonia, as well as the Latvian troops. More than 500 foreign troops are expected to participate in the drills in Latvia’s territory.

    On May 15-25, Saber Knight 18 military exercise will be organized in Latvia by Denmark with participation of troops from Denmark, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia. More than 500 foreign troops will participate in the exercise.

    Saber Strike 18 exercise will be held in the Latvian territory on June 3-15 with participation of troops from the US, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia, as well as the Canadian-lead NATO battle group deployed in Latvia. Also this exercise will be attended by more than 500 foreign troops.

    On June 8-16, Summer Shield XV military exercise with participation of troops from the US, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia, and the Canadian-lead NATO battle group deployed in Latvia will be organized. Also this exercise will be attended by more than 500 foreign troops.

    Finally, on June 10-June 20, joint NAF and foreign troops exercise Swift Response 18 will be held in Latvia with participation of troops from the US, Poland, the UK, Germany and Latvia. This exercise will also be attended by more than 500 foreign troops.
