    Moldovan defense minister arrives in Latvia

    RIGA, May 17 (LETA) – Moldovan Defense Minister Eugen Sturza will arrive on a visit to Latvia today to meet with his Latvian counterpart Raimonds Bergmanis (Greens/Farmers) to discuss bilateral cooperation and regional security, the Defense Ministry reported.

    Bergmanis, Chief of Defense Leonids Kalnins and Sturza will lay flowers by the monument of Colonel Oskars Kalpaks, the first commander of the Latvian armed forces.

    Latvia so far has supported the training of the Moldovan Armed Forces officers in the Baltic Defense College and trained instructors in Moldova.

    Moldova since 1994 has been a member state of the NATO program Partnerships for peace.
