Estonian defense forces were not using training ground in Kuusalu when wildfire broke out

TALLINN, Aug 10, BNS - Units of the Estonian defense forces were not using the training ground located in the rural municipality of Kuusalu in Harju County when a wildfire broke out there on Thursday.

"No, there was no training of the members of the defense forces being carried out at the training ground yesterday. The reason for the fire is still unknown at present," Aivo Vahemets, press officer of the headquarters of the defense forces, told BNS on Friday.

The emergency center received a call at 12:15 p.m. regarding a fire at the defense forces' training ground in the rural municipality of  Kuusalu. As of Friday morning, the area of the fire was approximately seven hectares and work to extinguish the fire was ongoing.

Vahemets said that the all practice grounds of the training ground have been closed in relation to the fire.
