Croatia to rejoin NATO battalion in Lithuania in 2 years

VILNIUS, Sep 13, BNS - Croatia plans to rejoin NATO's multinational battalion in Lithuania in two years' time, the Lithuanian Defense Ministry said.

Croatian troops served in the battalion between December 2017 and July 2018 and are expected to join it again in the first half of 2020.

"Lithuania thanks Croatia for its decision to again contribute troops to the NATO enhanced forward presence battalion deployed in Lithuania. This is a real manifestation of solidarity of our countries in the face of common threats," Defense Minister Raimundas Karoblis said in a press release.

Karoblis met on Wednesday with Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Damir Krsticevic and Chief of Defense General Mirko Sundov.

NATO last year deployed multinational battalions to the three Baltic countries and Poland each. The unit in Lithuania is led by Germany.
