Minister: I have discussed troop contingent in Estonia with UK's new foreign minister

BRUSSELS, Jul 12, BNS - Estonian Foreign Minister Sven Mikser told BNS in an interview that he has informally discussed the deterrence posture of NATO and the U.K. troop contingent in Estonia with the new foreign secretary of Britain, Jeremy Hunt.

"We haven't had a bilateral meeting yet, but I have exchanged ideas with him on several occasions over the past two days," Mikser said in the interview given on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Brussels.

The Estonian minister said that he has exchanged ideas with Hunt on developments in Britain's domestic policy, Britain's contribution to NATO's deterrence posture, and the subjects dealt with at the NATO summit that came to an end on Thursday.

British Prime Minister Theresa May appointed Jeremy Hunt, the long-serving health minister, as foreign minister on Monday after predecessor Boris Johnson resigned in protest at the government's plans for a close trading relationship with the European Union.
