RIGA, Feb 17 (LETA) - Latvia is preparing a promotional campaign for this year’s London Book Fair where Latvians will be presented as a nation of introvert authors.
The promotional campaign will be launched at this year’s book fair, which will be taking place from March 14 to 16, in preparation for the 2018 event which will highlight the Baltic states as its Market Focus.
Anete Konste, a representative of latvianliterature.lv, told LETA that this year at the London Book Fair will be special for Latvia because on the last day of the event Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia will take over from Poland as the book fair’s Market Focus in a ceremony attended by the ambassadors of all three Baltic states.
A number of events are being planned in London already for this year in honor of this event, with Latvia planning to link its events with the promotional campaign #iamintrovert.
Una Rozenbauma, the campaign’s creative director, explained that the promotional campaign is intended to showcase the richness of Latvian authors inner world which allows them to produce high quality literature.
“The world is a perfect place for extroverts, people who can strike up a casual conversation with a stranger, make a public presentation, say something good about themselves or hug another person without a particular reason, but we are not like that… Latvia is one of the most introvert nations in the world, and so are our authors, naturally. And we take pride in this. We will therefore let their books speak for them. Because literature is a perfect world for introverts,” authors of #iamintrovert said.
As part of the campaign videos will be produced featuring the Latvian authors who will be taking part in the London Book Fair next year, and artist Reinis Petersons will create a comic strip about the introvert Latvian writer.
