Latvia's Rebeka Koha becomes junior world champion in women's weightlifting

TOKYO, June 18 (LETA) - Latvian athlete Rebeka Koha triumphed at the 2017 IWF Junior World Championships in Tokyo on Sunday.

She became the champion in the women's 58 kilogram division, snatching 99 kilograms and lifting 120 kilograms in clean and jerk, which gave her a total of 219 kilograms.

With this result, Koha beat her personal record and the Latvian national record by six kilograms.

Her highest achievement so far was the fourth place in the Rio Olympic Games. In April this year she won the silver medal at the 2017 European Weightlifting Championships, adding it to the bronze medal she won in the 2016 European Championships.
