Kucinskis to meet Estonian, Lithuanian counterparts in Incukalns

RIGA, Aug 10 (LETA) – Latvian Prime Minister Maris Kucinksis (Greens/Farmers) on Friday will head to Incukalns in central Latvia to meet with Estonian Prime Minister Juris Ratas and Lithuanian Prime Minister Siaulius Skvernelis, Kucninskis’ spokesman Andrejs Vaivars told LETA.

During the meeting the prime minister will visit Incukalns underground gas storage facility and discuss Baltic cooperation in energy.

Vaivars explained that during the meeting in Tallinn early this year the prime minister agreed on a necessity to get acquainted with the strategic energy objects in all the three countries. The three prime ministers have already visited Paldiski and Klaipeda in Lithuania.

Kocinskis noted that when discussing energy issues, it is important to continue the work in relation to development of the regional natural gas market, thus strengthening security of energy supplies, reducing energy dependence on a dominating supplier.
