    Registered unemployment in Latvia stays at 6.6% in October

    RIGA, Nov 10 (LETA) - Registered unemployment in Latvia this October remained unchanged month-on-month at 6.9 percent, the State Employment Agency said.

    At the beginning of October, there were 61,461 people registered with the agency as jobless, but by the end of the month their number was down to 61,014. Over the month, the number of jobless people decreased by 447.

    The lowest unemployment rate, 4.2 percent, was recorded in Riga Region, while the highest jobless rate, 15.6 percent, was recorded in the eastern Latvian province of Latgale. Also, unemployment was at 7.7 percent in Kurzeme province in western Latvia, at 7 percent in Vidzeme in north-east and at 6 percent in Zemgale in the southern part of the country.

    The registered unemployment in the Latvian capital Riga was 4 percent in October 2017.

    At the end of October 2016, the registered unemployment rate in Latvia was 7.9 percent.
