    RB Rail gets new supervisory board

    RIGA, Nov 14 (LETA) – RB Rail, the joint venture established to oversee the Rail Baltica railroad project, has a new supervisory board, the company’s representatives reported.

    Arenijus Jackus has been appointed to the supervisory board to replace Lithuanian Rail Baltica Statyba’s representative Steponas Saltmeris.

    Latvijas Dzelzcels president Edvins Berzins, Latvijas Dzelzcels deputy director of legal department Vineta Rudzite, Rail Baltic Estonia supervisory board member Anti Moppel, Rail Baltic Estonia head Indrek Orav, Rail Baltica Statyba executive director Karolis Sankovski will continue their work at the supervisory board, and Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai Rail Baltica coordination department director Jackus will join them.

    The RB Rail supervisory board includes six members, with each shareholder delegating two board members. The board members are appointed for a three-year term.

    RB Rail is a joint venture established by the three Baltic countries in October 2014. The Rail Baltic project seeks to establish a direct railway connection between the Baltic states and the European railway network enabling speeds of up to 240 kilometers per hour for passenger trains and 120 kilometers per hour for freight trains.
