    The Chronicles of Melanie gets Lielais Kristaps film award

    RIGA, Nov 14 (LETA) – On Monday night the national film festival Lielais Kristaps presented awards and historical drama "The Chronicles of Melanie" got the Best Feature Film Award, and its director Viesturs Kairiss got the award in the Best Feature Film Director category.

    Sabine Timoteo was awarded as the Best Actress for her role in "The Chronicles of Melanie", and Kaspars Znotins got the award of the Best Actor for his role in Aiks Karapetjans horror movie "Firstborn".

    Lote Eglite won the Best Script Award for animation film "Pigtail and Ms.Sleeplessness".

    "Liberation Day" was awarded as the Best Documentary, while Krista Burane received the Best Documentary Film Director award for "The Fairytale of Empty Space".

    The Latvian National Film Center (NKC) has also selected "The Chronicles of Melanie" by Viesturs Kairiss as Latvia’s Oscar nominee.

    The annual film festival Lielais Kristaps was first organized in 1977, and this year the awards were presented for the 29th time.
