RIGA, Dec 5 (LETA) - The government today in principle approved Latvia's participation in Expo 2020 Dubai world trade fair, Economics Minister Arvils Aseradens (Unity) said after the Cabinet of Ministers meeting today. The government instructed the Economics Ministry together with the Transport Ministry, the Foreign Ministry and the Agriculture Ministry to produce by January 30, 2018, a financing model for Latvia's participation in Expo 2020 Dubai. According to Aseradens, the model of cooperation with the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in participation in Expo 2017 Astana this summer had worked well. "It could be one of the possible solutions to raise financing also for Latvia's participation in Expo 2020 Dubai. We will consider different financing models, including those with involvement of the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and companies," the economics minister said. Expo 2020 Dubai world trade fair will take place from October 20, 2020, to April 10, 2021, in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates. As reported, in 2012 the Latvian government approved the country's participation in Expo 2015 Milan but, as the costs of participation in the world trade fair increased, the ministers reversed their decision. High costs was also the reason for the government's decision not to participate in Expo 2017 Astana, and Latvia's pavilion at the world trade fair was organized by the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
