    Work of Bergmanis, Reizniece-Ozola gets highest assessment among ministers – poll

    RIGA, Jan 12 (LETA) – Latvian residents have given highest assessments to the work of Defense Minister Raimonds Bergmanis (Greens/Farmers) and Finance Minister Dana Reizniece-Ozola (Greens/Farmers) among ministers, while the most negative assessments were given to the work of Environment Protection and Regional Development Minister Kaspars Gerhards (National Alliance) and Justice Minister Dzintars Rasnacs (National Alliance), according to a survey conducted by SKDS pollster and commissioned by Neatkariga daily.

    In the survey conducted in December 2017, Prime Minister Maris Kucinskis (Greens/Farmers) took the third position in the ranking as 37.4 percent of respondents gave a positive assessment of his work, and the assessment rose by 3.6 percentage points. At the same time, 5 percent of respondents said that they have never heard about Kucinskis at all, still the prime minister gets the best recognition among respondents.

    Bergmanis who tops the list, got a positive assessment from 51.6 percent of respondents, and just 14.3 percent are of the opposite opinion.

    Finance Minister Reizniece-Ozola was second, still 17 percent of respondents have never heard of her.

    Culture Minister Dace Melbarde (National Alliance) was positively assessed by 31 percent of respondents, but still 23.5 percent of residents know nothing about her.

    Health Minister Anda Caksa (Greens/Farmers) received the sixth most positive assessment among ministers and 28.6 percent of residents were positive about her work, up 8.5 percentage points from the previous survey, while the negative rating was still at 33 percent.

    Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics (Unity) ranked seventh in the list, followed by Agricultural Minister Janis Duklavs (Greens/Farmers), Education and Science Minister Karlis Sadurskis (Unity) , Economics Minister Arvils Aseradens (Unity), Welfare Minister Janis Reirs (Unity), Environment Protection and Regional Development Minister Gerhards, and Justice Minister Rasnacs.

    Sadurskis can boast of the second highest recognition among ministers as just 8.4 percent of residents have not heard about hims, but 51.8 percent of respondents criticized his performance.
