RIGA, Feb 9 (LETA) - This week hospitals in Latvia have reported two more fatalities from flu which brings the total death toll in this flu season to three, according to the data of the Center for Disease Prevention and Control. Both patients, who died from flu this week, were older than 50 years and had not been vaccinated. They also had chronic diseases and other risk factors, just like the first flu fatality recorded in early January. The number of flu patients has risen above the epidemic threshold in Daugavpils, Liepaja and Ventspils while the situation in the Latvian capital Riga is close to the threshold with 93.7 flu cases per 100,000 population.
