    Latvian PM to participate in the EU-Western Balkans Summit

    RIGA, May 16 (LETA) – Latvian Prime Minister Maris Kucinskis (Greens/Farmers) on May 16-17 will visit Bulgaria’s capital Sofia where he will participate in the EU-Western balkans Summit and the informal European Council’s meeting, the prime minister’s office reported.

    The aim of the summit is to reaffirm the EU's commitment towards its Western Balkans partners, strengthen links between the EU and the Western Balkans in infrastructure, digital and human connectivity, work more closely together to tackle common challenges, such as security, migration, geopolitical developments and good neighborly relations

    During the summit, the participants plan to adopt a joint declaration on priorities.

    During the informal European Council meeting, the leaders plans to discuss innovations and digital issues.
