RIGA, Sept 14 (LETA) - The registered unemployment level in Latvia was 11.3 percent of the economically-active population at the end of August, 0.3 percent less than at the end of July, the State Employment Agency informed LETA.
114,689 people had the status of unemployed at the beginning of July, by the end of the month - 111,542.
In August, the lowest unemployment rate was registered in Riga Region - 7.6 percent, while Latgale Province still had the highest unemployment level - 22 percent. In Kurzeme Province, unemployment was at 12 percent, in Zemgale Province - 12.4 percent, in Vidzeme Province - 13.4 percent.
Among the cities, Rezekne had the highest unemployment rate in August - 20.5 percent, while the lowest unemployment rate was in Riga - 7.2 percent, followed by Jelgava - 8.6 percent, Ventspils - 8.5 percent, Valmiera - 8.9 percent, Liepaja - 10.8 percent, Daugavpils - 10.9 percent, Jurmala - 11.7 percent, and Jekabpils - 15.4 percent.
