Petravica says money has been found to compensate for higher cost of pension delivery

RIGA, Sept 12 (LETA) - The Welfare Ministry has found money to compensate for the rise in pension delivery tariffs, Welfare Minister Ramona Petravica (KPV LV) said at a Saeima meeting today.

"The Ministry of Welfare has done its best to find a way to compensate for the increased cost of pension delivery service to all those who have opted to use the postal service for pension delivery," said Petravica.

She explained that the Welfare Ministry's expenditures had been revised to find a way to compensate for the increase in the cost of pension delivery.

The total amount of the compensation is approximately EUR 2 million, and the proposal to compensate the higher cost of pension delivery will be included in next year budget's priorities.

As reported, starting from 2020, Latvijas Pasts postal company will charge EUR 4.88 for home delivery of the State Social Insurance Agency's pensions, allowances and benefits, which is twice as much as today, but from 2021 the fee will increase to EUR 5.28,
