Authorities said that 123 people trying to cross the sea from Indonesia to Australia had been rescued from a boat that capsized in the Indian Ocean. Rescuers said one body had been recovered and that initial reports noted that 150 people had been onboard. The boat, with mostly Afghan refugees, went down in sight of Australian rescue vessels 107 nautical miles (198 kilometres) north of Christmas Island, an Australian territory in the Indian Ocean.
