The descendant of three generations of mayors, Ibrahim expressed his support for for ex-prime minister and presidential candidate Ahmad Shafiq who is strong in a region where former presidents Anwar Sadat and Hosni Mubarak were born and where their popularity his high, in contrast with a staunch opposition to the Muslim Brotherhood's candidate Mohammed Mursi.
