EPA 2012-06-03 21:57:15 Protest in Tahrir after the verdict in Mubarak trial
A General view of Tahrir Square shows Egyptian protesters shouting slogans against former President Hosni Mubarak and his aides during a second day of demonstrations after the announcement of the verdict in their trial, in Tahrir Square, Cairo, Egypt, 03 June 2012. A criminal court on 02 June sentenced Mubarak and his interior minister, Habib al-Adli, to life in prison for complicity in protester deaths in a popular revolt more than a year ago. However, Mubarak's two sons were cleared of corruption charges. A hard core of demonstrators stayed overnight, after the verdicts were announced, in Cairo's iconic Tahrir Square, which was the focal point of the revolt that eventually removed Mubarak from power in February 2011. The numbers of demonstrators increased 03 June in Tahrir, where slogans against the current military rulers and the verdicts in the Mubarak trial reverberated. Similar protests were reported in other major Egyptian cities. EPA/KHALED ELFIQI
