EPA 2012-06-14 11:58:37 The Twa People - Rwanda's Indigenous Potters
(05/14) Twa (or Batwa) men and women carry clay they collected in the marsh in Nzove for their pottery production as they start a 15km walking journey back to their village in Shyorongi located some 40km north of the capital of Kigali, Rwanda, 15 May 2012. The Twa, also called Batwa, are an indigenous Rwandan pygmy people, who make up about one percent of the country's population of 8,000,000. They originally lived as hunter-gatherers in the high mountain forests around the Great Lakes of the Central Africa. Nowadays, many earn their livelyhood by making and selling pottery.
