Yemeni students take final school exams at a secondary school in Sana'a, Yemen, 26 June 2012. According to government reports, more than 212,000 Yemeni students of secondary schools enrolled in 2012 to take the final school exams compared with more than 233,000 students in the academic year 2010-1011. Yemen suffers from difficult economic and security problems affecting several sectors in the country, particularly the education sector. The illiteracy rate stands at 29.8 per cent for men and 62.1 per cent for women in the country of 24 million people, reports claimed. EPA/YAHYA ARHAB
