EPA 2012-06-28 19:25:50 Egypt jails ex-official for 15 years over Israel gas deal

Media reports on 28 June 2012 state that an Egyptian court sentenced Fahmi to 15 years in prison for a controversial deal to export gas to Israel. The Criminal Court in Cairo handed down the same jail term to the fugitive business tycoon Hussein Salem for involvement in the 2005 deal, and five former oil officials were given jail terms ranging from three to 10 year.
