EPA 2012-06-29 14:20:16 Curfew in Kashmir after a fire ravaged a shrine

Authorities fearing clashes imposed curfew restrictions in Srinagar city and other towns, while a complete shutdown was observed across Indian Kashmir for 5th straight day to mourn the gutting of shrine. The historical shrine of 11th century saint, Sheikh Syed Abdul Qadir Jeelani (locally called Dastgeer Sahib) was gutted in a devastating fire on 25 June. The fire caused massive damage to the shrine, however relics inside the shrine were retrieved safely. Soon after the incident, clashes triggered in the city. EPA/FAROOQ KHAN
