EPA 2012-06-29 18:20:58 Harrow International School in Hong Kong - still under construction, but gearing up for opening.
A general view of the new 'Harrow International School' (at top) in Tuen Mun, New Territories, Hong Kong, China, on 29 June 2012. The site which is still under construction is scheduled to open its doors to its first intake of students on 03 September 2012. The new fee-paying school will comprise of a Lower School (with a creche and a pre-Preparatory), and an Upper School (with a Preparatory, a Senior School and a Sixth Form College). Harrow represents to many Chinese the best of British education, and the school is capitalizing on its brand value by expanding into Asia where a good education is still held in very high regard. As private school fees continue to rise in Hong Kong, the 2008 sale of the 400,000 square foot prime green-field site to Harrow by the Hong Kong government for only Euro 101.69 (1,000.00 Hong Kong dollars) still causes resentment amongst many Hong Kong tax-payers.
