This is one of first images taken by NASA's Curiosity rover through a "fisheye" wide-angle lens on the left "eye" of a stereo pair of Hazard-Avoidance cameras on the left-rear side of the rover, of the surface of Mars and provided at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California early on August 6, 2012. NASA's 2.5 billion USD Mars rover on August 5 made a dramatic touchdown on the Red Planet, marking a successful end to the most sophisticated Mars attempt in history.
