EPA 2012-07-04 10:06:05 Killed Dutch aid worker in Philippines
An undated handout photo released on 04 July 2012 by the Citizens' Disaster Response Center (CDRC) of Dutch aid worker Willem Geertman. Geertman, a leader of volunteer disaster relief organization Alay Bayan, was shot dead on 03 July by unidentified gunmen outside the organization headquarters in Pampanga province, north of Manila, Philippines, police said. Initial investigation showed that the gunmen had taken a bag believed to be containing 1.2 million pesos (23,000 euro) withdrawn by Geertman from a bank. Philippine activist groups urged authorities to investigate further, noting that Geertman could have been killed for his support for farmers against land grabbing.
