    Vadims Lasenko elected president of Latvian Football Federation

    RIGA, July 3 (LETA) - Vadims Lasenko was elected president of the Latvian Football Federation during the federation's congress on Friday.

    96 delegates to the congress voted for Lasenko, president of Latvian Futsal Association, while the other candidate, Interior Minister Sandis Girgens (KPV LV) was supported by 26 delegates. Six delegates abstained from voting.

    Tukums Sports School Principal Sergejs Kovalovs and football school Alberts board chairman Olafs Pulks were elected deputy presidents of the Football Federation.

    Janis Engelis, Anastasija Kucinska, Emils Latkovskis, Nauris Mackevics, Viktorija Mihalcuka and Andis Rozitis were elected members of the Football Federation's board.

    The congress was originally scheduled for April 24 but had to be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

    The previous Football Federation's President Kaspars Gorkss was voted down last October.
