    Ten new Covid-19 cases recorded in Latvia; half of them are arrivals from foreign countries

    RIGA, Aug 12 (LETA) - Ten new Covid-19 cases have been confirmed in Latvia after testing 2,226 people over the past 24 hours, the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC) informed Wednesday. 

    It has been established that five of the infected people had recently returned from foreign countries: Finland, Russia, Lithuania, Albania and Sweden. The other five had had contacts with a Covid-19 patient. 

    Of the 218,756 Covid-19 tests carried our in Latvia so far, 1,303 have come back positive. A total of 1,078 people have recovered from Covid-19 and 32 have succumbed to the coronavirus disease. 

    According to the data from the National Health Service, nobody has been hospitalized with Covid-19 over the past 24 hours. There are currently six Covid-19 patients receiving treatment at hospital. All of them have symptoms of moderate severity. Altogether, 195 patients have been discharged from hospital, but this number includes both recoveries and fatalities.
