    Elderly person dies with Covid-19, contracted infection from relative who returned from abroad

    RIGA, July 31 (LETA) - In the past 24 hours, an elderly person died with Covid-19, having contracted the infection from a relative who had returned from abroad, the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC) informed.

    The victim was 90-95 years old.

    Thus, a total of 32 Covid-19-related deaths have been reported in Latvia.

    In the past 24 hours, 1,473 Covid-19 tests were conducted and three of them were positive. In one case the person arrived from a country with the incidence over 25 cases per 100,000 residents, one patient returned from a country with incidence below 16 cases, and one patient had contacted a person who had arrived from abroad.

    The total number of Covid-19 tests has thus grown to 198,508 and the number of confirmed cases has risen to 1,231. Altogether 1,052 people have recovered from Covid-19 and 32 others have succumbed to the disease.

    According to the National Health Service's data, four Covid-19 patients, all with symptoms of moderate severity, are currently receiving treatment in hospital.

    In all, 191 patients have been discharged from hospitals, but this number includes both recoveries and fatalities.
