RIGA, Dec 3 (LETA) - An airBaltic aircraft, which returned to Riga from Stockholm today, slid off the taxiway at Riga Airport due to poor visibility, and the airport is closed until 15:00.

Airport representative Ilze Salna told LETA that the airport runway is currently closed due to an incident.

The airport authorities and the airline are working at the scene.

From the State Fire and Rescue Service, LETA learned that the accident occurred shortly before noon. The plane's passengers and crew were evacuated, no people were injured.

Aivis Vincevs, a representative of the Civil Aviation Agency (CAA), told LETA that the CAA is following along the situation at the airport.

Currently, the use of the runway for both departing and arriving flights is closed until 15:00. Inbound flights are diverted to airports in other countries, while departures will be delayed.

Vincevs said that there were currently reports that nine outbound and three inbound flights have been delayed.
