    3,383 persons vaccinated on Thursday; 2.51% of Latvian population have now received at least first dose

    RIGA, Feb 26 (LETA) - The pace of vaccination against Covid-19 in Latvia continues to remain relatively high on Thursday, with 3,383 persons being vaccinated, according to data collected this morning by the National Health Service (NSS).

    A total of 14,426 people received the first or second dose of the vaccine in the last seven days, an average of 2,060 people a day, which is in line with the previously set goal of at least 1,000 people to be vaccinated daily by Health Minister Daniels Pavluts (For Development). In addition, the average number of people vaccinated per week is increasing.

    Most of those vaccinated on Thursday received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine - 3,347. In turn, 36 people received their second dose.

    Most of those vaccinated yesterday were over the age of 60.

    Among those who received their vaccine shots on Thursday were 116 social care center (SAC) clients, 252 people from the so-called high-risk group, 2,228 people over the age of 60, 285 medics, 184 medical staff, 114 persons with chronic illness and 96 SAC staff.

    On Thursday, 3,068 people in Latvia received doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine, 231 people were vaccinated with the Moderna vaccine, and another 48 people were vaccinated with Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine Comirnaty.

    In total, 30,680 people have received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine in Latvia so far, but 16,912 people have received both doses, according to NSS data. According to the data of the Central Statistical Bureau, on January 1, 2021, Latvia had a provisional population of 1.894 million, so 2.15 percent of the population have received the first does of the vaccine against Covid-19, but 0.89 percent of the population have received both doses.
