Latvia confirms 606 new Covid-19 cases, 13 more deaths

RIGA, March 25 (LETA) - Latvia confirmed 606 new Covid-19 cases and 13 people died with the coronavirus in the past 24 hours, according to the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC).

Of the latest Covid-19 victims, one person was between 30 and 39 years old, three between 60 and 69 years old, five between 70 and 79 years old, two between 80 and 89 years old and two more between 90 and 99 years old. Latvia's total Covid-19 death toll grew to 1,864 people.

Of the 17,518 Covid-19 tests performed in the past 24 hours, 3.5 percent came back positive. The CDC explained earlier that in the European Union this indicator is considered important because when this figure rises above 4 percent, the spread of the disease is considered to be rapid and uncontrolled.

Latvia's cumulative 14-day Covid-19 incidence per 100,000 population reduced slightly from to 377.5 from 379.2 the day before. In the past two weeks, 7,202 people in Latvia have been diagnosed with Covid-19, according to LETA's estimates.

Latvia has so far registered 99,476 Covid-19 cases.
